Frequently Asked Questions
"What is an LMFT?"

A Licensed Marriage and Family therapist is a clinician who has obtained their Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from an accredited university, completed 4,000 post-graduate hours of training, and passed their licensing exam. They specialize in working with couples and families through a Family Systems lens, understanding symptoms such as anxiety and depression are more environmental/situational and less pathological.
"What is a Psychotherapy Intern?"

A Psychotherapy Intern is a student in their Masters program obtaining their field training under the supervision of a licensed therapist. There are many benefits to working with a Psychotherapist Intern, including their lower fee for services, and small caseload with extensive clinical support, which means your case will get additional attention.
"How can I use my out-of-network benefits?"

There are two ways to use your out-of-network benefits to cover session costs:

1. We use a service called Mentaya. We will verify OON benefits free of charge, and then send in a claim to your insurance company for your reimbursement. This process will charge your card on file %5 of the session cost (this is Mentaya's fee, not ours).
2. We can provide you with a superbill of the service provided, and you can submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement.

All costs for sessions are due the same date as service. Unfortunately, Josie Elwell's services are not eligible for OON reimbursement.
